Journalist Apologizes to Juana Viale for False Link to Macri

Buenos Aires, January 25 (NA) -- Franco Torchia retracted and apologized this Sunday during his program to Juana Viale after having linked her to Mauricio Macri. As confirmed by the Noticias Argentinas news agency, the journalist acknowledged that the information he had disseminated was false and assumed responsibility for the impact on those involved. 'I was sold rotten fish,' Torchia stated. Torchia clarified that there was no type of relationship between Juana Viale and former President Mauricio Macri, and acknowledged that the circulation of that version caused negative consequences. 'By disseminating that information, I generated harassment, anguish, and pain for her and her environment,' he said, describing his actions as a serious error. Meanwhile, Juana Viale's brother, Nacho Viale, spoke out about the matter on social media, dedicated a few words to the topic, and also uploaded a clip of Torchia's apologies to his 'X' account. 'No. Justice was done for an injustice and falsehood. It is good for the media to know how to ask for forgiveness. End,' he wrote. The retraction marked a turnaround from his previous statements, when he had maintained on the program 'Intrusos' that it was an 'approach' and had defended the veracity of his source, even after the public denial of those involved. The error was acknowledged and apologies were offered. 'I want to take this moment to offer deep and genuine apologies to Juana Viale for the 100% false version that I gave on air days ago,' he assured. In his defense, the communicator stated that the version he aired had no basis and that he was misled by a source that provided him with incorrect data. Apologies accepted.
